In 2003, a small contracting service asked Michael Surry to investigate its employees. The owner of the store had suspicions that one or more of his employees had defrauded him of over $300,000. The ensuing investigation revealed that two employees, Mr. Pink* and Mr. Blue, had indeed stolen several hundred thousands of dollars. Mr. Surry discovered that Mr. Pink was charging legitimate items to the company and then returning the items to the distributor for cash. The returns would not show up on the credit card statements and Mr. Pink was able to collect small amounts of cash over an eight-month period. After this period, Mr. Pink sought the assistance of Mr. Blue in pulling off larger transactions using the same method.
Both Mr. Pink and Mr. Blue were arrested and successfully tried in court with the evidence provided by Mr. Surry.

In 1985, a young boy ran away from home at the age of 13. The father was jailed a few years later for domestic abuse for nearly beating the younger sister of the boy to death. In 2006, the girl contacted Mr. Surry to see if he could help her locate her brother. The process appeared fruitless, but after nearly a year, he was able to find the young man. Mr. Surry communicated with the man and arranged for counseling prior to the reunion of the two siblings.
The two siblings have moved into homes neighboring each other.

Mr. Surry has worked many investigations involving cheating spouses. He has found many situations in which the spouse was cheating, and many in which the spouse was not. In early 2008, he was asked to investigate Mr. White, a young man who claimed to be working overtime but was not bringing home any additional money. The first day on the investigation saw Mr. Surry following Mr. White to a small office complex. When Mr. White left the office complex, a young lady who was not Mrs. White accompanied him. The two embraced, but did not kiss. Over the following week, Mr. Surry noted six more visits to the same office complex.
The following week, Mr. Surry followed Mr. White to what appeared to be a construction site of a new home. Mr. Surry witnessed Mr. White working alone on the nearly completed project. The following two weeks saw Mr. White making numerous trips to the development and local building supply stores. In this time, he did not make another trip to the office complex. On their 15th wedding anniversary, Mr. White presented the new home to Mrs. White. He explained that it was his "overtime project" and that he hoped she understood why he kept her in the dark. Overjoyed at her present, Mrs. White then confessed to her husband that she had hired Mr. Surry to follow him. Reportedly, Mr. White found that to be hilarious.
The two remain happily married.
